What is Glider Safe Browser (GSB)?

Glider Safe Browser (GSB) is a secure browser designed to provide a controlled assessment environment on macOS devices.

System Requirements

Before installing Glider Safe Browser (GSB), ensure your Mac meets the following requirements:

  • Recommended: Latest available macOS version supported by your device

Downloading Glider Safe Browser (GSB)

Download the latest GSB installation package (GSB.dmg) from the assessment invitation email or the official download page provided by your organization.

Installing Glider Safe Browser (GSB)

Step 1: Open the Downloaded Installer

Locate the downloaded GSB.dmg file in your Downloads folder.

Double-click the file to open it.

Step 2: Copy GSB to Applications

A Finder window will open displaying the Glider Safe Browser (GSB) application and the Applications folder.

Drag the GSB icon onto the Applications folder.

This copies the application to your Mac's Applications directory.

Step 3: Eject the Installer

After the copy process is complete:

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Locate the mounted GSB installer in the sidebar.
  3. Right-click the mounted installer.
  4. Select Eject.

This removes the mounted disk image from your system.

Launching GSB for the First Time

Step 1: Open the Assessment Link

To launch GSB, click the assessment link provided to you in invition email.

Step 2: Allow macOS Security Prompt

The first time GSB is launched, macOS may display a security warning indicating that the application was downloaded from the internet.

Since GSB was obtained from an authorized source, click Open to continue.

Permissions Required

Depending on the assessment configuration, GSB may require permissions such as:

  • Camera access
  • Microphone access
  • Screen recording access

When prompted, grant the required permissions to ensure that all assessment features function correctly.

Launching an Assessment

Once GSB is installed and all required permissions have been granted:

  1. Open the assessment link.
  2. Launch the test.
  3. Allow GSB to start.
  4. Follow any on-screen instructions provided by the assessment platform.

GSB may restrict access to other applications and system functions while the assessment is in progress.

Important Notes

Before starting an assessment:

✅ Ensure you have a stable internet connection.

✅ Close unnecessary applications.

✅ Save any ongoing work.

✅ Install all required macOS updates before the assessment day.

Troubleshooting

GSB Won't Open

If GSB does not launch:

  1. Confirm that it is installed in the Applications folder.
  2. Verify that the download completed successfully.
  3. Restart your Mac and try again.

Security Warning Appears Repeatedly

If macOS continues to block GSB:

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences).
  2. Navigate to Privacy & Security.
  3. Locate the security message related to GSB.
  4. Select Open Anyway if available.

Assessment Does Not Launch

If the assessment fails to launch:

  • Verify your internet connection.
  • Ensure all required permissions have been granted.
  • Confirm that you are using the latest version of GSB.
  • Contact your assessment administrator if the issue persists.
